Description

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Water seeks to award a fixed-rate purchase order for analytical support services for a single sampling episode for the Aquaculture Industry. EPA requires analysis of approximately 59 field samples for BOD, TSS, TDS, chloride, total volatile solids, pH, TOC, COD, ammonia as nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite, TKN, orthophosphate, and total phosphorus by the methods specified in the Analytical Requirements Summary. Fifteen of the 59 samples will require filtration upon receipt at the laboratory, and the resulting aqueous and solid phases will be analyzed separately for all analytes except TSS and TDS. In addition, EPA requires analysis of approximately 227 samples for HEM by Method 1664, Revision A. Sixty of the samples will require filtration upon receipt at the laboratory, and the resulting aqueous and solid phases will be analyzed separately. EPA will use the analytical data provided under this purchase order to develop industrial effluent discharge regulations that govern the disposal of pollutants from Aquaculture Industry sources; therefore, data produced under this purchase order must be of highest possible quality. Laboratories will be required to employ a comprehensive quality assurance program, meet facilities and equipment requirements, and provide personnel that demonstrate technical expertise in analytical chemistry techniques.
