Page 3 of 3 Med Gas Alarm Panel Install Questions and Answers The contract requires a 5-year manufacturer warranty, the standard warranty is 1 or 2 years, we are not positive this requirement can be met. Please verify. Yes, we want the 5-year warranty SOW F (2) should list 6030 not 6020. Must be Verified, not inspected. This is correct a 6030 is what would be needed not the 6020. Can you provide the most recent annual medical gas inspection report for the facility? No The primary location for the master alarm panel is not suitable; it is behind doors that normally open/close. Alternate location is in the hallway but requires clarification from AHJ if the proposed location meets NFPA 5.1.9.2.1 (1). One master alarm panel shall be located in the office or workspace of the on-site individual responsible for the maintenance of the medical gas and vacuum piping systems . Is this within visual/audible range of the person/shop responsible for the system? The primary location is within 6ft of their workstation and the door to the area remains open while the person is at work. This location also allows the maximum exposure to the panel for other staff members and the supervisor who would serve as a backup for repairs. Where is the current master alarm panel? Is it in an area of continuous observation per NFPA 5.1.9.2.1 (2)? The current master alarm panel is monitored 24 hr a day and is located in the emergency department. See attached drawing Can you provide a picture of the current master alarm panel? See attached photo If the current master alarm panel is not Amico, it might have to be retrofitted. Panel manufactures need to match or you can have an issue due to the power supply voltage loop through the switches. Verify existing panel manufacturer. See attached photo Is the current master alarm panel wiring up to code? NFPA 5.1.9.2.3.1 (A):(D) The panel is up to code and has passed the annual inspection. If the current master alarm panel does not meet NFPA 5.1.9.2.3.1 (A):(D), will it be required to be brought to current code? No, only to install the Med Gas panel in building 37 in a manner that meets code. Can you provide floor plans for the facility that shows the locations of the source equipment? Oxygen, Medical Air, Medical Vacuum, Nitrous Oxide Manifold, Nitrogen Manifold, etc. We would also need the locations of the main line pressure switches shown on the plans. Needs to be noted on the plans to estimate distance for conduit and LV wire. See attached floor plan Are the existing main line pressure switches fully functional? Do they have gas specific demand checks and gauges? To our knowledge they are fully functional. The new master alarm panel is required to be 120VAC e-power. Has a spare breaker been identified for the new circuit? If so, can you show the location of the breaker on plans? There is no emergency power located in building 37 and no circuit has been Identified. A electrical panel is located with in 20 feet of the primary and alternate location of the proposed med gas panel Is there a chase, tunnel, or anything connecting the hospital to Bldg 37? If not, this would require digging to install conduit connecting the two buildings. There is not a chase or tunnel. There is buried conduit connecting building 1 to building 37. There is no drawing of the path of the conduit. Are we integrating the new master alarm panel with the BMS? No, it will not be integrated with the Building management system.
