Description
THIS IS NOT AN INVITATION FOR BID, PLAN AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE Small Business Set-Aside PROJECT NUMBER: AZ FLAP PIM FR510(1) PROJECT NAME: Sabino Canyon Park PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sabino Canyon Park Road, also known as Forest Road 510, is located within Pima County, Arizona, north of Tucson, Arizona. The project begins on the north at the intersection with Carter Canyon Road and ends at the Forest Service gate. The project length is approximately 0.5 mile. SCOPE OF THE WORK: The purpose of the project is to improve public access, particularly parking, in the community of Summerhaven, which is at the top of Mt. Lemmon, north of Tucson. Note that CFL built the road from Tucson to Summerhaven over several years and phases in the 90s and 2000s. It is very popular during the summer months to escape the Tucson heat. There is also an area where people ski slightly to the north of the project. This project includes the construction of a new paved parking lot consisting of approximately 75 parking spaces, a kiosk for Arizona Trail information, a public restroom, and the improvement of Sabino Canyon Park Road to accommodate approximately 21 new on-street parking spaces, an asphalt surface rehabilitation for approximately half a mile, and the installation of a 5-foot-wide pathway as part of the Arizona Trail. The project improvements will provide a new paved surface, roadway excavation, retaining wall construction, tree clearing, ditch construction/reconditioning to improve drainage, installation of culverts, a new public bathroom, and the installation of new street signage and pavement marking.
