Description
The Marrow Foundation (R) and the National Marrow Donor Program (R) are pleased to announce that applications for the Amy Strelzer Manasevit Scholars Program will be available September 12, 2001. This research program is directed toward scientists and clinicians early in their careers and is intended to advance the understanding of events occurring after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The program is dedicated to the memory of Amy Strelzer Manasevit and is made possible through the generosity and commitment of her family and friends. Requirements and Conditions of the Amy Strelzer Manasevit Scholars Program: (1) The research proposal must address issues arising after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantion. (2) Proposals may describe clinical investigations, translational research or basic laboratory investigations, but at least one of the awards will be targeted for a proposal with a primary clinical orientation. (3) Proposals are not required to include use of data collected through the NMDP, but a preference will be given to such proposals. (4) Awards will be made for a maximum of $240,000 in research support divided over three years. (5) Applicants must have received a doctoral degree (M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent) within the past twelve years (after February 1, 1990). (6) The Awards Committee will review proposals and select two Amy Strelzer Manasevit Scholars who will be announced during the 2002 Tandem BMT Meetings (ASBMT and IBMTR/ABMTR) in Orlando, Florida, February 22-26, 2002.
