Description

Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with the SAn Jose State University Foundation (SJSUF) for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Purpose of proposed contract is to conduct study to assess how California sea lions detect presence of hook-caught salmon and identify possible methods to reduce interactions Dr. Harvey at the SJSUF has completed a similar pinniped study on the Monterey BAy region in 1997 and 1998 and has investigated the foraging ecology of California sea lions and harbor seals by conducting onboard investigations on the commercial and recreational troll fishery.
