Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) have partnered to sponsor a symposium on Network Centric Warfare: Detection through Destruction. This event will take place on 18 and 19 September in the south engineering complex, building 2187, at Patuxent River, MD. All NAVAIR employees are invited to attend. Featured topics include information distribution, time-critical strike, decision support systems and enabling technologies. Symposium hosts are Rear Admiral Timothy Heely, Commander, NAWCAD, and Mr. Bob Parkinson, AFCEA. A prestigious lineup of invited speakers includes Vice Admiral Dennis McGinn, Deputy CNO for Warfare Requirements and Programs and Vice Admiral Joseph Dyer, Commander, NAVAIR. Other speakers include Rear Admiral Timothy Heely, Commander, NAWCAD; Major General Robert Shea, Assistant Chief of Staff for C4, Director of Intelligence and CIO, U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters; Mr. Edward Bair, PEO (Intelligence, Electronic Warfare, and Sensors), U.S. Army; and Mr. John Robusto, Director, Network Centric Warfare Initiatives, NAVAIR. The two-day agenda will include an operators' perspective panel and an acquisition perspective panel, as well as breakout sessions on autonomous operations, time-critical strike, decision support systems, and enabling technologies. Participants are also encouraged to visit the wide variety of static displays and exhibit booths, and take advantage of a number of tour opportunities in nearby laboratories. The symposium registration desk will be open between 3 and 5:30 p.m. on 17 September and again at 7 a.m. on 18 September in the lobby of building 2187. A catered lunch will be available on each full day of the symposium at a cost of $10.00 each day. An evening reception, hosted by the Southern Maryland chapter of AFCEA, will be held on 18 September at 6:30 p.m. at the Naval Air Test and Evaluation Museum. The cost for the reception is $15.00.
