Description

Notice of availability of a prospectus for the award of a concession contract authorizing the year-round operation of a horse stable and riding trail system including boarding of horses for the public, horses for rent to recreational riders, and riding instruction, for park visitors within the Jamaica Bay Unit, Gateway National Recreation Area, New York, for a period of ten years. The new contract requires completion of a Concession Facilities Improvement Program estimated at $150,000. A new concessioner will also be obliged to purchase the existing concessioner's possessory interest in real property improvements and personal property associated with the operation. The value of possessory interest as estimated by the National Park Service is $800,000 to $900,000. The existing concessioner's estimated value of their personal property as of April, 1999, was $1.5 to $2.0 million dollars. The concession has averaged approximately 14,000 to 15,000 riders yearly. Annual gross receipts for 2000 were $573,910. The Director, National Park Service, has determined pursuant to 36 CFR Part 51 that no preferred offeror for this contract exists. Offers are due October 15, 2001.
