Description
The CECOM Acquisition Center -- Washington on behalf the Department of the Army, is seeking input from industry for the Army Enterprise Infostructure Transformation. The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit early industry involvement in defining the Army approach to transforming disparate Army information systems and enclaves into an integrated, enterprise-wide, enabling capability. The information requested in this RFI contributes to the Army's market analysis of the available technology and industry capability to consolidate corporate Army Information Technology (IT) assets and establish an Army Enterprise Infostructure. The Infostructure encompasses the information technology assets, facilities, communications, operations, security, enterprise services, applications and information required to support network-centric Army operations and to meet the enterprise knowledge requirements of the Army. Army's Infostructure optimization objectives are to provide universal, secure and interoperable IT network-based services to the Army enterprise and to provide global access to enterprise applications with access to data anywhere, anytime using common clients (web browsers and plug-ins) with proper access credentials.. The Army is currently studying similar government and industry initiatives and envisions the following benefits to optimizing its Infostructure: improved information assurance, decreased per seat cost, improved efficiency in use of IT resources, improved service levels, and reduced operations and maintenance costs. This RFI solicits specific information from industry to help form the operational, technical, acquisition and migration approaches the Army will adopt. The RFI and information related to this request can be found at https://abop.monmouth.army.mil under Contracting Officer, Patricia Davis or Contract Specialist, Jacquelyn McIntyre as of 10 August 2001. The RFI number is DAAB15-01-R-1028. Responses to the RFI shall be submitted in accordance with the instructions in the RFI no later than 5:00 p.m. Washington DC time on 15 October 2001. It is estimated that a Request for Proposal resulting from this RFI will be released in 3rd Quarter 2002. The Government does not intend to pay for any information solicited and will not recognize any costs associated with submission of a response to this RFI.
