Description
The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) intends to award a sole source, Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance (SETA) requirements contract to TRW, Incorporated on or about November 1, 2001 for Ballistic Missile Defense Survivability Research and Program Support. This contract will have a 5-year period of performance, with no options and an approximate value of $8 million. This is a follow-on effort to contract DASG60-97-D-0002, Task Order #0079-02, with TRW, Inc. TRW is presently providing critical and highly specialized technical support to BMDO to identify potential Missile Defense element/system susceptibilities/ vulnerabilities; identify operational and technical Survivability Enhancement Options (SEOs) to mitigate these susceptibilities/vulnerabilities; conduct technology assessments and test and evaluation of SEOs as necessary to quantify the viability of the SEOs; develop Technology Integration Plans (TIPS) to support the integration of SEOs into the Missile Defense elements/system; and provide general survivability support to the Missile Defense elements/systems with the IPT process. Under this effort, TRW will provide critical, knowledgeable and highly specialized systems engineering and technical assistance to support the BMDO in the areas of survivability technologies, prototype development, subsystems and systems analysis, and experimentation support for the technology developments. TRW currently maintains the special access facilities, personnel and procedures necessary to accomplish this effort and is the only company that has the current, requisite expertise to maintain the level of Survivability Research BMDO requires. Award will be made pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1), only one responsible source. Any contractor who believes they possess capabilities to perform the effort as described above may express their interest by submitting information in writing that contains sufficient detailed documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill this requirement to Mr. Rick Baumgartner at Richard.Baumgartner@bmdo.osd.mil NLT 2:00 p.m. on 22 August 2001.
