Description

NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the purchase of one each Off-Axis Parabolic Mirror, p/n OAP-100-02-14Q; and one each Precision Mirror Mount with Alignment Flat, p/n MMOA-14. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Space Optics Research Labs (SORL), Chelmsford, MA. SORL is the only company capable of producing these large aperature (14"" diameter), high surface quality (<1/8 wave @ 633 nm), alignment friendly (integral optic axis reference flat on mirror mount) oap mirrors. The mirror surface quality and custon-designed mount make this an ideal unobscured collimator systems for testing high-end optical systems. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on August 24, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
