This serves as notice by the National Park Service of its intention to release a concession Prospectus for the continuation of commercial services and support facility within Oregon Caves National Monument. The Prospectus will be issued July 13, 2001, for a response period of 64 days ending September 14, 2001. The Prospectus will not be available on an Internet site, it will only be available in hard copy form. The cost for purchasing a Prospectus is $35.00 by mail or $30.00 if picked up in person. If picked up it will only be available at the new Oakland, CA address listed below. Purchase of the Prospectus will be by check only (NO CASH). The check must be made payable to "National Park Service". A Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) MUST be provided on all checks. IMPORTANT!! IMPORTANT!!: The National Park Service Pacific West Regional Office will be moving to a new location beginning July 12,2001. The new office is scheduled to be fully functional July 23, 2001. Please include in your request a mailing address indicating where to send the Prospectus. The operation consist of a 22-room lodging facility, food and beverage services, retail merchandise, and the management of an employee housing facility within Oregon Caves National monument. The operation is seasonal in nature. The average visitation to the park is between 86,000-98,000 annually. About 80% of the park's visitation occurs from May through September during the primary operating season. Depending upon snow conditions the operation has an opportunity to expand shoulder season services. Lodging consists of a 22-room historic lodge that offers food and beverage services. A gift and souvenir sales operation is also located within the historic lodge. A short walking distance from the lodge is an employee dormitory complex that will be managed by the concessioner. It has the potential to house 23 employees during the peak-operating season. There is no capital improvement program required under the new concession contract. No purchase of Possessory Interest will be required by the new concessioner. The new concessioner will be required to purchase from the temporary concessioner the personal popery, equipment and supplies that is directly associated with the operation. As of April 2001 the approximate value was $274,000 . The term of the new concession contact will be for seven (7) years. The current temporary concession contract is scheduled to expire September 30, 2001. There is an existing temporary concessioner; Delaware North Parks Services, that has no statutory right of preference in renewal. This will be a fully competitive solicitation.
