Description
The previous synopsis posted under the above solicitation number is amended as follows: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) plans to contract on a sole source basis with Wen, Hagley and Associates, 13401 Valley Drive, Rockville, MD 20850, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). The following task is added to those included in the original sysnosis: THE NIST Synchrotron Ultraviolet Radiation Facility (SURF) serves as the Nations primary source-based radiometric standard. Continuous improvement of SURF performance requires a number of accelerator physics/engineering tasks to be performed. WEN/Hagley & Associates will provide services for design, construction, installation, and testing of RF power and DC magnet power systems, beam diagnostic and control systems, fail-safe vacuum interlocks for beam lines, and measurement systems for absolute determination of beam energies and currents. Completion of these requirements in a timely fashion requires detailed knowledge of existing NIST experimental equipment and facilities. By virtue of their previous involvement in the design, construction and use of these facilities, Wen, Hagley and Associates are the only company that possesses that experience. For these reasons, it is in the best interest of the Government to contract only with Wen, Hagley and Associates for these requirements. The period of performance for this contract will be for one year. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all responses received by the date identified above. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill the requirement. A solicitation is not available.=20 See Note 22.
