Description

The USDA Forest Service, Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, Black Mesa Ranger District, Coconino County, Arizona requires construction of approximately 2 miles of fence that will enclose about 15 acres of wet meadow habitat along an estimated 3/4 mile of ephemeral stream to preclude access to the meadow by wild and domestic ungulates (e.g. elk, deer, livestock). The fence will be 8-feet high (2 tiers of 47"-high, 12.5-gauge mesh fencing) strung on a combination of steel and wooden posts with wooden corner braces. To upper Fairchild Draw: From state highway 260, travel N-NW-W on Forest Road 300 to FR 115 (about 20 miles). On FR 115, travel N about 5 miles to FR 56. Travel E-NE on FR 56 about 1.5 miles. Designated skid road provides access from FR 56 to project site in Fairchild Draw. If resource conditions preclude the use of the designated skid road off of FR 56, then do not turn onto FR 56 but continue N on FR 115 and additional 2 miles.
