Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to make a = sole source award to the Taskforce for Child Survival and Development = for the purpose of developing an action plan for laboratory containment = of wild polioviruses in the United States in accordance with the World = Health Organization (WHO) direction. The Task Force developed the = current WHO global action plan for laboratory containment of wild = polioviruses and the WHO guidelines for implementing the = pre-eradication phase of the global action plan for laboratory = containment of wild polioviruses: Surveying laboratories and = establishing inventories. These documents serve as the template for all = WHO Regions and all countries, including the US. The Task Force is the = author of these documents and is intimately involved in implementation = of the Containment Plan and Guidelines in all WHO Regions, of which = two, the Western Pacific Region and the European Region, are far = advanced in the containment process.
