Description

This is a Requirements contract to secure the services for a cone collection contract for Western Larch. Project requires the use of a 110' crane with operator and harvester to harvest cone-bearing branches, and a small crew to pick the cones from the harvested limbs. The crane with operator and harvester will be paid by the hour and the picking crew will be paid by the bushel of cones collected as specified in the contract. The estimates listed in the Schedule of Items, Crane 140 hours; Maximum cones to be picked, 400 bushels, are the government's "best guess" only of its requirements and can be influenced by environmental factors, (squirrels, insects, etc.) genetic diversity and inventory requirements. The contract award will be at zero (0) to the maximum stated in the Schedule. The trees are located within the boundaries of the Ochoco National Forest. Trees selected for harvesting will be within 100 feet of the road. Some areas may be collected off road where terrain is suitable for use of crane. Estimated start work date is August 21, 2001, for a contract period time of 14 calendar days. Solicitation will be issued approximately June 26, 2001.
