Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a = requirement for the design and subsequent construction of a catwalk = system surrounding the NIST reactor (NBSR). The reactor biological = shield around which the catwalk is to be constructed measures = approximately 22 feet in diameter. Scientific instruments utilize = neutron beams through beam ports and are positioned around the reactor = shield. Each instrument has its own custom set of existing shielding = structures. The catwalk shall integrate with or avoid the existing = instrument shielding, while not impeding the operation of the = experimental instruments. The catwalk must not attach to the reactor = shield except when absolutely necessary. The catwalk must be between = 7-8 feet high and between 3-4 feet wide. The catwalk shall be made of = steel, treated such that it is corrosion resistant and meet or exceed = applicable OSHA requirements. The catwalk must be capable of partial = disassembly allowing maintenance. The contract performance period is = 150 calendar days. The magnitude of construction is between $100,000 = and $250,000. A fixed-price contract is anticipated. This procurement = is 100% set-aside for small business. NAICS Code is 332312. See = Numbered Notes 1and 26.
