Description

The principal components of the work are as follows: 1) Excavating a portion of the downstream embankments to expose impervious core material; 2) Removing and controlling water during construction; 3) Stockpiling excavated material and beam-type guardrail; 4) Excavating alluvium/colluvium to expose rock foundation at the downstream toe of the dams; 5) Trimming rock slopes; 6) Furnishing and placing filter and drain material; 7) Furnishing and installing toe drain pipe and outfalls; 8) Cutting, extending, and monitoring existing instrumentation and furnishing and installing piezometers, shear strips, inclinometers, benchmarks, and embankment measurement points; 9) Constructing inspection wells furnishing and installing inspection well vaults with measuring flumes; 10) Rebuilding dam embankments; 11) Furnishing and placing asphaltic concrete surfaced roadway and reinstalling beam-type guardrail; and 12) Seeding disturbed areas. The performance period for this work is 874 days. The price range for this contract is $25,000,001 to $50,000,000. The work is situated at Horsetooth Reservoir, directly west of Fort Collins, Colorado in Larimer County. The bid opening date is tentatively scheduled for August 2, 2001 at the Bureau of Reclamation's Great Plains Regional Office, 316 North 26th Street, Billings, Montana. There is no charge for the first copy of this solicitation, and additional sets will be provided upon receipt of a nonrefundable check or money order of $9.00 each set. After issuance, the solicitation may be viewed, without charge at the Great Plains Regional Office of the following locations: Horsetooth Field Office, 1093 North County Road 23, Fort Collins, Colorado or at the Eastern Colorado Area Office, 11056 West County Road 18E, Loveland, Colorado. All reasonable sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the Bureau of Reclamation. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 1629; the North American Industrial Classification System Code is 23499. The small business size standard is $27.5 Million.
