Description

On or about 14 June 2001, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of Big Sioux River Flood Control Project -- Phase IB, Sioux Falls, SD. Bids will be opened on or about 18 July 2001. This solicitation is restricted to small business participation. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact Don Stoltz, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 801 East Chambers Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57104, Telephone: (605) 373-0423. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See "Ordering" below. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) The Project consists of raising several hundred feet of levee about one foot, removing and moving back about a thousand foot of levee, removing a small concrete structure and other foundations, removal and movement of underground utilities, replacing three culverts and associated earth work. Work and materials include clearing and grubbing, excavation, placement of compacted embankment, riprap, seeding and mulching, crushed rock surfacing, and drainage structures. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $1,000,000 and $2,500,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 180 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
