***Notice to Vendors of Pedestrian Safety Countermeasure Products and/or Pedestrian Safety Engineering Solutions*** The Federal Highway Administration is seeking product/technical information on pedestrian safety countermeasure technologies and/or engineering solutions. All interested vendors should submit pertinent product/technical information to: Jodi Condes Contract Specialist Federal Highway Administration 400 7th Street SW Room 4410 Washington, DC 20509 This is just market research and the FHWA does not intend to issue any solicitation (s) as a result of this notice. Background In a FULL AND OPEN COMPETITIVE Request for Applications (RFA) which closed on April 26, 2001 the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) stated their intention to select one or more local jurisdictional governments (cities, counties, MPO, or other local jurisdictions), to demonstrate and evaluate the effectiveness of a comprehensive pedestrian safety countermeasures program for reducing pedestrian fatalities, injuries, conflicts and other surrogate measures. The award(s) will consist of two phases. Phase 1 primarily consists of the development of a Problem Identification and Countermeasure Selection Plan. Phase 2 consists of the implementation of the countermeasures as identified in Phase 1 and data collection to assist in the evaluation. The ENTIRE RFA is published on the Electronic Posting System (EPS) at HTTP://WWW.EPS.GOV. The solicitation number DTFH61-01-X-00018 To ensure that a full range of pedestrian safety countermeasures are considered for deployment, the FHWA is seeking vendor product/technical information which will be distributed to the successful applicant(s) of the RFA. This notice to vendors in not a request for purchase, nor is there a guarantee that distributors or manufacturers providing information will be selected for use by the successful applicant(s). Again, this is only an effort to gather current product/technical information on pedestrian safety countermeasure technologies and engineering solutions.
