PART: U.S. GOVERRNMENT PROCUREMENTS SUBPART: SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIAL CLASSCOD: 46 -- Water, Purification and Sewage Treatment Equipment OFFADD: U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Acquisition Center (AMSTA-AQ-DE), Warren MI 48397-5000 SUBJECT: 46 -- Water, Purification and Sewage Treatment Equipment SOL NA POC Debbie Peterman at (810) 574-6360 DESC: No assigned NSN. The United States Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) intends to award a firm fixed price requirements type contract to MECO under other than full and open competition for the production of the Light Weight Water Purifier (LWP). The estimated quantities for the production contract are 236 units. The Lightweight Water Purifier (LWP) is a compact, portable water purifier developed for use during rapid tactical movement, and during independent operations such as Special Operations Forces (SOF), temporary medical facilities, emergency operations, disaster relief, and similar operations. It can be transported by the M1097A2 High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) or by UH-60 aircraft. The LWP is easy to set up and is operated by trained MOS 77W water specialists. The system will produce at least 75 gallons of potable water per hour from salt-water sources and 125 gallons per hour from fresh water sources. MECO is a small business. This the second phase of a two phased program. Phase one was for the development of the LWP. Phase 2, limited to those contractors who provide prototype units is for LWP production.
