Description
The contractor shall optimize, fabricate, demonstrate, and deliver a Single Cargo Volcano Trainer System comprised of 5 canisters and 1 reloading system. Additionally, 5 inert reload modules shall be fabricated. This effort modifies existing Alliant Tech Systems Part Number 28069959. The Single Cargo Volcano training simulator canister shall incorporate all the external qualitites of the tactical volcano canister with exception of color and marking. It shall, however, deploy a single, solid, recoverable inert mass instead of a stack of munitions. The deployed mass shall be recoverable and reusable. This training simulator shall be an assembly that has the same weight and exterior dimensions as the tactical Volcano canisters. The Single Cargo Volcano training simulator shall have the same electrical and mechanical interfaces as the tactical Volcano canister and shall provide the same out-of-line safety features and electrical connections as the tactical Volcano canister. This contract shall be a 365 day effort. The Government intends to award this requirement on a sole source basis to Alliant Tech Systems (ATK), 600 Second St. NE, Hopkins, MN, 55343.
