Description
The U. S. Geological Survey intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Dr. Alan Turner, Colorado School of Mines, Golden Co. under the authority of FAR 6.302.1. The proposed contract is for non-personal services for: 1. Providing advice regarding the application of GSIS (geoscientific information system) technology to arid southwest studies. Qualifications Needed: Expertise in GSIS technology and its application to hydrogeologic modeling, ground-water flow-modeling and assessment of model uncertainties and use. 2. Providing assistance in planning the acquisition, conversion, and input of geologic, geophysical, and hydrologic data needed to construct 3D GSIS databases that are adequate for supporting basin-scale 3D characterizations of desert hydrogeologic systems. Qualifications Needed: Expertise in planning the acquisition, conversion, and input of geologic, geophysical, and hydrologic data needed to construct 3D GSIS databases that are adequate for supporting basin-scale 3D characterizations of desert hydrogeologic systems. 3. Providing assistance in the use of emerging 3D GSIS capabilities for visualization, spatial analysis, and spatial statistics in the development and refinement of three-dimensional databases, maps and models. Qualifications Needed: Experience in the use of emerging 3D GSIS capabilities for visualization, spatial analysis, and spatial statistics in the development and refinement of three-dimensional databases, maps and models. 4. Providing assistance in the development of technical papers on the emerging technologies and approaches in 3D hydrogeologic modeling. Qualifications Needed: Experience in the development of technical papers, including works on emerging technologies and approaches in 3D hydrogeologic modeling. 5. Serving as liaison with scientists in other domestic and foreign research organizations conducting similar research. Qualifications Needed: Existing contacts and established relationships with other domestic and foreign organizations conducting similar research. This contract is for one base year with four one year options. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS.
