Description
The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources to develop and demonstrate a projectile to support the Light Fighter Lethality (LFL) Science and Technology Objective (STO). The LFL is an effort to address the next generation, individual combat system, and is expected to be fielded in the 2020 timeframe. This projectile should have a direct fire trajectory and a maneuver capability in operational range of 150-500 meters. Once launched from the weapon platform, the projectile should be totally autonomous with regard to power, guidance and control, and sensors. The projectile should weigh less than 0.6 pounds, and be shoulder-fired with a firing impulse of less than 3 lb-seconds. It must be operational in all battlefield environments, including day, night, all weather conditions, obscurants, and urban and rural terrain. Probability of incapacitation (30 second defense criteria); 0.5 required, 0.75 desired against Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops (PASGT) protected personnel, in open or defilade, stationary or moving at speeds up to 2 m/s in any direction. This survey is open to non-conventional approaches, and should address any potential interface issues or requirements. The demonstration is expected to take place in late FY03, but if any required technologies are not available at that time, and are reasonably expected to be available in five (5) to ten (10) years, surrogates may be subsituted for demonstration purposes. All interested parties should submit a description of their product(s), including any sketches, drawings, specifications, and associated literature. Your submission should not exceed fifty (50) pages in total. Submissions shall be done in hard copy (no email submissions), and shall be mailed within 30 days of publication of this notice to: Dept. of the Army, US ARMY TACOM-ARDEC, ATTN: AMSTA-CM-CPD, Ms. Janice Finkelstein, Bldg. 10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. This is a market survey, not a pre-solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government.
