Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Coherent Laser Division, of Santa Clara, California, for acquisition of one High-Rep Rate Ultrafast Laser System to be used by the Chemical Science & Technology Laboratory (CSTL), Process Measurements Division, at NIST in conjunction with existing instrumentation. The High-Rep Rate Ultrafast Laser System must be completely compatible with the existing Coherent instrumentation in the CSTL in order to allow for interchangeability of parts. Furthermore, since many subsystems and operations software have been developed around the existing Coherent system, it is crucial to the timely continuation of research-in-progress to maintain those systems/software. Coherent Laser Division is, therefore, the only manufacturer that can supply the required High-Rep Rate Ultrafast Laser System to the Government.*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 120 days from receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by MAY 3, 2001 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
