Description

Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and supervision necessary to perform work for the project entitled "Electrical distribution System" at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Work includes but is not limited to the inspection and calibration of transformers and switchgears. The following are a sample of work to be accomplished: (1) Transformers of 500 Kilovolt AMPS (KVA) or larger must have the Load Tap Changer inspected for tight connections, proper contact pressures, and signs of burning and pitting. (2) Liquid Transformers must have the cooling liquid tested and replaced when test indicate that the liquid no longer meets manufactures' requirements. (3) Dry Type Transformers are thoroughly cleaned. (4) Switchgears Circuit Breaker Contacts are to be cleaned and in good alignment. (5) The insulation system of Metal-Clad Switchgear is to be tested as part of the maintenance operation. (6) All adjustable protective devices (relays) must be checked for proper calibration and recalibrate if necessary. (7) All control systems must be tested for proper operation after maintenance is performed and before placing back in normal service. The NAICS Code is 811310. This procurement is subject to availability of funds. Estimated solicitation issue date is April 27, 2001 with a estimate bid opening date of May 30, 2001. A pre-bid conference will be held, and date will be indicated within the solicitation. This is a total small business set a side procurement.
