Description
This is a revised Commerce Business Daily submission for the above solicitation of March 29, 2001. Several typographical errors of considerable importance have been discovered in the original specifications for this contract. The advertisement alerts the interested responder to a revised package of particulars. Because these errors were believed to have been discovered in sufficient time to correct this package without changing any of the due dates and important particulars, the main body of this advertisement remains almost unchanged. The United States Section of the International Joint Commission, United States and Canada (IJC), has a need for a contractor to manage the local area network (LAN) of its Washington, D.C. office. This LAN is one of three in the Commission's system, the other two systems being in Ottawa and Windsor, Ontario (CANADA). Although only the Washington, D.C. system is the subject of this Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitation, the upgrading, management and future development of the LAN in the Washington, D.C. office depends on coordinating activities involving the LANs in the other two IJC offices. The tasks required for the management of Washington, D.C. LAN include standard management activities involving, electronic mail and communications, trouble shooting of equipment and problems with word processing and other software systems, virus checks, periodic system configuration changes and equipment upgrades, and limited training of IJC staff in the use and performance of new software and equipment configurations. It also involves supporting the needs of remote users, including Commissioners who work from remote locations. and Washington IJC staff on travel. The IJC contemplates the negotiation of a fixed price contract for a two year period, beginning approximately September 1, 2001 and ending on September 30, 2003. An option for third year and fourth years on this contract are also included in the RFP solicitation. The applicable standard industrial classification for this RFP is 7379. Responses to the RFP solicitation should be received by the Commission's Washington office by close of business on May 18, 2001. To assist in proposal preparation, the IJC has scheduled an open house at its facilities at 1250 23rd St., N.W., Washington, D.C., Suite 100, for May 2, 2001 between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Prospective responders should indicate their intentions with respect to attendance at this time. A short meeting followed by a tour of the facility will introduce the Commission and its operations briefly and will take questions on the RFP for later response. It is not likely that persons who can answer the contractual questions will be present at the time of the tour and therefore all questions will be answered to the extent possible in writing to all of the attendees within several days of the tour. If possible, written questions should be submitted in advance to IJC by 4:30 p.m. EDT of April 20, 2001. To obtain a copy of the RFP, check the web site at the IJC's internet: www.ijc.org for the specification and an addendum indicating the corrections. To register for the open house, potential responders should contact either: Mr. Frank Bevacqua, or Dr. Joel Fisher International Joint Commission, United States Section 1250 23rd St., N.W.
