Description

This a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services prepared in accordance with format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation clauses and provisions are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-06. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this acquisition is 811219. The Food and Drug Administration intends to negotiate a sole source acquisition with JEOL, Inc. 11 Dearborn Road, Peabody, MA 01961 to provide full preventative maintenance service on JEOL Scanning Microscope(s) and Electron Microscope(s). Contractor shall provide up to a maximum of two routine maintenance visits per year. During routine maintenance visits work will be performed on the instrument to assure long term performance and reliability. Malfunctioning systems will receive corrective service at that time. Schedule for maintenance will be initiated by the FDA. Whenever the instrument requires service of a nature outside the customary customer responsibilities, an engineer will be provided to make the appropriate repairs during regular business hours, at no charge to the Government. The contract period of performance is 2/01 through 9/30/01. JEOL, Inc. is the only known source for this service. The following FAR provisions apply to this solicitation: 52.212-4 Contract Terms and Conditions _ Commercial Items; 52.212-5 Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Status or Executive Orders _ Commercial Items; along with following additional FAR Clauses, cited in clause 52.222-26 Equal Opportunity; 52.222-35 Affirmative Action for Disabled and Veterans of Vietnam Era; 52.222-36 Affirmative Action for Workers with Disabilities; 52.222-37 Employment Reports on Disabled Veterans and Veterans of the Vietnam Era; 52.225-3 Buy American Act _ Supplies. The following provision also applies to this acquisition, 52.232-33 Mandatory Information for Electronic Funds Transfer Payment. This procurement is being awarded as a simplified acquisition in accordance with FAR 13.5. Interested persons may identify their capability to perform the requirement by submitting a quote. This notice of intent is not a request for quotes however, all quotes received by February 6, 2001 will be considered.
