Description
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has a requirement for the services of a Photo Optics Technician in the Photometric & Visibility Laboratory (PVL). The PVL does research to provide near-term improvements of the visibility on the roadway and of traffic control devices to enhance the safety of road users, as well as investigates the effectiveness of innovative means of marking, signing, signaling, and lighting. The services required of the Photo-Optics Technician include; assistance in the conduct of photometric and colorimetric measurements, minor repair/calibration of complex electronic instrumentation systems, and simple analysis of data collected by the PVL. The FHWA intends to issue a Purchase Order with Ms. LaVonne Warder to continue these services for the next year. Ms. Warder is currently providing these services through a contract that will expire. These interim services are required while a large competitive procurement is being prepared. Ms. Warder is considered the only known source that can continue these services with little or no impact to the PVL and FHWA mission. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about January 8, 2001.
