Description

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Computer Science Corporation (CSC) for a follow-on contract to provide continuation of technical services supporting the DRUGFIRE system within the National Integrated Ballistics Information Network (NIBIN) program. These services support the following areas: (1) continuation of services and support to the existing DRUGFIRE/NIBIN users; (2) continued support of the NIBIN transition effort; and (3) continued support for the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Wide Area Network (WAN) preparation and integration. The resultant contract will be comprised of a base period (FY2001) and two option periods (FY2002, FY2003). CSC, through its acquisition of Nichols Research, posses the knowledge and experience necessary to support the DRUGFIRE system based on the highly specialized work performed in specification development, system deployment, networking of such systems, training module development and assistance provided with the transition effort. However, vendors are invited to provide, within 45 days of this publication, technical capabilities, pricing and other information which shows a bona fide ability to meet this requirement. If no affirmative responses are received within this time to determine that a comparable source more adavantageous to the government is available, negotiations will be conducted with CSC on a sole-source basis.
