Description

The Bureau of Census (BOC) intends to extend the period of performance under contract Contract 50-YABC-7-66010 with Lockheed Martin. The extension will be for an additional forty-two (42) months to continue to provide technical and management services for the transition of the production DCS 2000 system to a post-decennial environment. The DCS 2000 contract was for the capture of data from census forms, conversion to ASCII data files and archiving of the data. The effort for data capture and conversion to ASCII data files has taken place and is completed. The requirement to archive images (in scope of current contract) of the census forms will require an extension to the contract. The archiving involves the transfer of approximately 625 million form images from one tape format to another tape format and then the transfer from that tape format to microfilm. Because of strict quality control requirements, this operation must be performed serially, a very time consuming process. The extension consists of three (3) one (1) year options (GFY 2003, 2004, and 2005) and one (1) six (6) month option (10/01/05 through 03/31/06). Services are required to procure, deliver, install, and test some additional hardware and software, and to support, operate, and maintain existing plus additional hardware and software.
