Description
Center of Excellence for Information Technology Seeks Nominations of Successful IT process improvement projects for Conference The Federal CIO Council plans to launch a Center of Excellence for Information Technology (CEIT) Pavilion at the 6th Annual Virtual Government Conference, sponsored by Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), February 28 -- March 1, 2001, Ronald Reagan International Trade Center, Washington, DC. The CEIT will showcase organizations that have successfully applied web-enabled technology to their business processes resulting in significant savings/process improvements to the organization. The Federal CIO Council is seeking nominations from both private and public sector organizations to showcase their web-enabled applications at the 6th Annual Virtual Government Conference. Applications and strategic focus areas may include E-Commerce, Smart Cards as enabling technologies, Procurement/Acquisition, Telework and Virtual Offices, Human Resources Systems, Collaborative uses of technologies for Administrative Functions, Knowledge Management, Performance Management, Privacy and Security, Distance Learning and Training, Accessibility technologies, Intergovernmental Partnerships, Public Safety, Property Management, and others. Entries must include the following: Name of organization POC, address, telephone number, email address Description of business process which applied Web-Enabled technology Description of Technology Explanation of public/private partnership, involvement Amount of savings Direct benefits Indirect benefits Supporting documentation (e.g. brief description of how the web-enabled technology is part of the business unit's information technology architecture, awards, articles, etc) An evaluation team will select several web-enabled business processes that meet the high standards expected from the CEIT. Chosen organizations will be contacted in January 2001. Exhibitors will incur costs for space, equipment, graphics, etc. associated with their respective demonstrations. CEIT awards will be presented to CEIT exhibitors during the Virtual Government Conference.
