Description
THIS IS A MODIFICATION TO SOLICITATION NUMBER N68335-01-RFI-002, POSTED 21 NOVEMBER, 2000. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst (NAWCADLKE) is conducting a survey to identify sources for a commercial off the shelf (COTS) or modified COTS battery operated rechargeable drill. This drill must be capable of operating in the vicinity of Naval aircraft while performing maintenance at outdoor aircraft flight lines (ASHORE) and also in the aircraft hangar bay areas (ASHORE). THESE AREAS ARE CLASSIFIED AS CLASS I, DIVISION 2 (FLAMMABLE ATMOSPHERE)LOCATIONS BY THE National Electric Code (NEC) section 513-3 paragraph (c) for electrical equipment operating in these locations. This classification leads to specific restrictions for operating electrical equipment where flammable fuels and fuel vapors are present. Vendors will be asked to provide details on how they plan to certify or qualify their product to safely operate in these flammable atmoshpheres without causing ignition. The drill shall have the following operating characteristics: 1. Reversible drill motor. 2. Variable speed trigger and drive. 3. Adjustable torque/clutch 4. DC voltages of 12 volts or higher. 5. 3/8- inch drill chuck size. Each drill shall consist of no less than the following components: 1. Storage case. 2. Rechargeable battery and one spare rechargeable battery. 3. 110 to 120 VAC 60 Hertz Battery charger with input voltages of 110 to 120 VAC and 60 Hertz. U.S firms interested in being considered should submit in writing, a description of their porduct, which fulfills the Navy requirements, or how it can be modified to meet these requirements. Include estimated price and availability (lead-time) information. This announcement is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY, and is not a request for proposal or announcement of a solicitation. Activities that fail to respond will not be placed on the bidder's list for a possible future solicitation. NO TELEPHONE INQUIRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. The Government will not pay for any material provided in response to this synopsis nor return the data provided. Responses are required within 30 days after publication of this notice.
