Description
The U.S. Army Soldier Biological and Chemical Command (SBCCOM), Natick, Mass. is conducting a market investigation seeking technical information on equipment that could be used to heat water for military shower and kitchen systems. Three separate water heaters are required with heat output ranges of (30-40) KBTU, (100-200) KBTU and (500-750) KBTU. The water heaters should have the following capabilities: (1) The heaters must be able to use liquid fuels including DF1, DF2, DFA, JP5 and JP8. (2) Electric power should be 110/208 Volts and 50/60 hertz. (3) The heaters must be portable, rugged and be able to set up for field use by 2 or 3 soldiers. (4) The heaters and all equipment required for assembly and support should be integral to the system. (5) Automatic safety and water temperature features will be considered and must include emergency shut off switch. (6) Must be able to operate at temperatures between -25 F to 120F. (7) Heater must be capable of being connected to a recycling system. (8) The exposed surfaces should be able to resist the effects of chemical and biological contaminates for at least one hour. (9) The heaters must be reliable and have mean time to repair that does not exceed one hour and maximum time to repair for 90% must not exceed three hours. Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside the US Government. Information provided will be used to develop specific requirements for future tent heaters. Interested sources must respond, with information on their product (s) no later than 20 December, 2000. Interested sources shall include information detailed in the CBD Note 25 regarding a firm's experience, personnel, and facilities. Information should include product cost, literature and illustrations, relevant company background and experience. Firms responding shall indicate whether or not they are a small business. The size standard 1711 for this industry is $7.0 million dollars. Any information submitted will not be returned. If a firm chooses to submit samples, no payment will be made by the Government for such samples.
