Description
The U.S. Army Soldier Biological and Chemical Command (SBCCOM), Natick, Mass. is conducting a market investigation seeking technical information on equipment that could be used to heat military tentage. Three separate heaters are required with heat outputs of 15 KBTU, 30 KBTU and 80 KBTU The heaters should have the following capabilities: (1) The heaters must be able to use liquid or solid fuel or both. The liquid fuel should be both diesel and JP8. The solid fuel should be wood and coal. (2) The heater exhaust shall be vented outside tent or proven to be safe inside. (3) No outside electric power should be required. (4) The heaters must be rugged, easy to transport and reliable. (5) The heaters and all equipment required for assembly and support should be integral to the system. (6) Ignition techniques and safety features will be considered. (7) Shall operate in temperatures down to -60F Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside the US Government. Information provided will be used to develop specific requirements for future tent heaters. Interested sources must respond, with information on their product (s) no later than 20 December, 2000. Interested sources shall include information detailed in the CBD Note 25 regarding a firm's experience, personnel, and facilities. Information should include product cost, literature and illustrations, relevant company background and experience. Firms responding shall indicate whether or not they are a small business. The size standard 1711 for this industry is $7.0 million dollars. Any information submitted will not be returned. If a firm chooses to submit samples, no payment will be made by the Government for such samples.
