Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR LARGE SCALE FRESNEL LENS/REFLECTOR MANDREL FABRICATION. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to provide official answers to questions received. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. 1. QUESTION: Is it possible to obtain further definition on the design requirements of the mandrel? ANSWER: Large Scale Fresnel Lens/Reflector Specifications * Lens/Reflector Design -- Design shall be optimized to maximize concentration ratio while minimizing shadowing losses and/or chromatic aberration -- Concentrator angle and geometric orientation relative to focal point shall be such that sun half-angle effects are minimized and typical spacecraft system configurations are accommodated * Fabricated Mandrel Segment -- Mandrel shall be produced using conventional CNC milling equipment -- Procedures shall be developed to produce mandrel groove surface finish similiar to that produced by typical diamond point turning techniques. -- Mandrel segment substrate shall be of sufficient stiffness to accomodate production of thin film concentrators by various polymer processing methods. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on November 13, 2000. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
