Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) requires the services of a contractor to provide medical consultant services as a Regional Medical Advisor. This procurement will be for a commercial item service prepared in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 and will be conducted using simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13. Services shall include providing new medical consultants with advice and assistance, providing second reviews on questionable medical cases, providing guidance and training to State Disability Determination Service medical consultants, and the review of medical evidence in disability claims on-site only at 1221 Nevin Avenue, Richmond, CA. There will be no patient contact. Offerors must: (1) have a valid license to practice medicine in the US; (2) have current or recent clinical experience; and (3) be available for onsite work a minimum of 20 hours per week between 6:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Competitive pricing will be solicited and accepted. The expected date of contract will be in January 2001. The period of performance shall be one year from the date of award with provisions for the inclusion of four one-year option periods. The solicitation is scheduled for release on or about November 2, 2000, with proposals due 28 days later. This requirement is a 100% small business set aside. Proposals received from other than small business will be deemed unacceptable and will be given no further consideration. No telephone requests for the solicitation will be accepted.
