Description
The Government requests technical proposals and applications for award of federal assistance grant/cooperative agreements. The Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center (GCMRC) is charged with establishing and implementing long-term monitoring programs to ensure proper operation of Glen Canyon Dam. GCMRC provides credible, objective scientific information on the effects of operating Glen Canyon Dam on the downstream resources of the Colorado River ecosystem, using an ecosystem science approach. The research/monitoring project consists of two parts. Part A, Streamflow and Suspended-Sediment Transport Modeling Within the Colorado River Ecosystem, Numerical Simulations of Reach-Averaged Sand Bar Evolution in Response to a Range of Discharge, Sediment Supply and Thermal Conditions Along the Main Channel, and Part B, Development of a One-Dimensional Suspended-Sediment Routing Model for the Main Channel. The magnitude of funding for this project is not expected to exceed $490,000 over all years. The duration of the project may be more than one year. Proposals that meet the objectives specified under the program announcement will be evaluated and accepted or declined in the review process. Technical proposal formatting instructions are provided in the announcement. Program announcement applications will be available on the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center's Web Site: http://www.gcmrc.gov. as well as opening and closing dates. You will be asked to register at your first visit to the web site. Paper copies may be obtained by calling Serena Mankiller at (520) 556-7094. Awards are anticipated on or about January 2001. Questions regarding the requirements may be submitted through the web site. Questions and answers will be published on the web site***
