This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in sub-part 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This office plans to make a sole source award/brand name award to Northern NEF for the Portable Automated Surface Observation System (PASOS) weather system. Any qualified offerors that can provide this system needs to respond with offer by 5 September 2000, 1400 PST. Listed below are the items needed along with the requirements. a)two pressure transducers b) uninteruptable power supply ceilometer c)anemometer d)visibility e)precipitation gauge f)temperature and g)sensors will measure pressure inside DCP, wind speed and direction, visibility, temperature/relative humidity, precipitation identification and to include a heated tipping bucket rain gauge h)ground to air radio I) Peripherals include floppy disk drive, ground to air radio, and remote maintenance monitoring capability. j) system mounting on tactical frame with shipping containers k)video display unit with spread spectrum datalink l)local area network-LAN. m) System must be capable of passing data to arriving and departing aircraft. Must be capable of transmitting data to local terminals via Internet. A VHF radio is required to communicate with aircraft, a lightning detector and an integrated ceilometer that it capable of passing data on the Internet. System is FAA approved.
