Lewis, Contract Specialist, 202-324-9011 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals/bids are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) 0007163. The provisions and clauses incorporated are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular #97-18. This solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is a Small Business Set-Aside. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 3821 and the business size standard is 500 employees. This will be a Firm-Fixed price contract. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with Bohanan's Forensic's Inc., P.O. Box 159, New Market, TN 37820, for the Bohanan CBC SuperGlue Fume Generator: Specifications: A self-contained unit that incorporates a high temperature heating chamber, an internal fan, SuperGlue resistant hoses, set of output flanges to contain the fumes, heating element can generate temperatures as high as 500 F, hose must remain flexible after 20 to 30 regular uses, output flanges should contain the fumes on an area approximately 25 to 36 square inches, will vaporize a three-gram portion of SuperGlue to allow fuming for approximately 20 minutes, standard household current, housed in it's own carrying case, SuperGlue is inserted into the oven compartment using aluminum foil trays, Maximum fume output is obtained within-5-10 minutes of startup, a timer is present to insure that the unit does not remain in the heating mode indefinitely, generating unit weighs no more than 20 pounds, generating unit and carrying case weighs no more than 40 pounds. Based upon market research, it has been determined that Bohanan's Forensic Inc. has a patent on the above apparatus. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all quotes received by 9/8/00 will be considered by the Government.
