58 -- COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT POC Mr. Jimmy Lee (703) 313-5674, Technical POC The United States Coast Guard is issuing this market survey to identify sources interested in providing a wireless communications system for use by Coast Guard 47 foot Motor Life Boat crew members. This system is to satisfy the following general requirements: 1) Unit must have hands free VOX capabilities with option for PTT. 2) Unit must be intrtinsic safe, FM approval Class 1, Division 1, Group(s) A, B, C and D. 3) Have a minimum effective range of 500 feet. 4) Operate in the Motor Life Boat environment and have a temperature range of 0 -- 120 degrees F. 5) Be saltwater and corrosion resistant. 6) Operate in an ambient noise level of 92 dB. 7) Be submersible to adepth of 20 feet. 8) Battery life of 4-6 hours without recharging or replacing batteries. 9) Operator must be capable of hearing ambient noise. 10) Must be compatible with standard issue dry suit, type III PFD and helmet. 11) Must not interfere with normal crew activities/duties. 12) Must be wireless.
