13 -- AMMUNITION SOL RFQ-832882 POC Theresa M. Powell, Contracting Officer, (703) 632-1640 The Federal Bureau of Investigation intends to negotiate a sole source firm-fixed price contract with an option for increased quantities not to exceed 50% of original order, to be purchased within 12 months of award with Federal Cartridge, Anoka, MN. The vendor is to provide various types of ammunition, during an interim period, under Request for Quotation (RFQ) Number 832882. In 1999, the FBI's contracts for .40 S&W caliber, .308 caliber, and .223 caliber ammunition expired. The FBI has issued a competitive solicitation for the .40 S&W caliber ammunition. The FBI will be issuing competitive solicitations for the other calibers of ammunition in the near future. However, the following quantities are needed immediately to continue the FBI's day-to-day investigative mission. For the FBI to ensure that all ammunition purchased does not or will not harm any weapons, an extensive evaluation is conducted. The previous contract ammunition was put through this extensive evaluation prior to award, of which Federal Cartridge was the awardee. The ammunition required is as follows: CLIN #1) 2,000 MX rounds, .40 S&W 165 grain Hydra Shok, Product Number (P/N) P40HS3G; CLIN #2) 60 MX rounds, .223 Remington, 69 Grain RTHP, P/N GM223M; CLIN #3) 144 MX rounds, .223 Remington, 62 Grain bonded tactical, P/N LE223T3; CLIN #4) 22 MX rounds, .308 Winchester, 168 Grain BTHP, P/N GM308M; CLIN #5) 4 MX rounds, .308 Bonded 165 grain, P/N P308TL; and, CLIN #6) 500 MX rounds, .40 S&W caliber "Ballisticlean", P/N BC40NT2. No component of the round shall have been used previously. Reloaded ammunition is unacceptable. The ammunition shall be manufactured to the specifications and recommended standards of SAAMI. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, interested parties may identify their interests and capability to respond to this requirement by submitting a letter of interest to the attention of Ms. Theresa M. Powell, Contracting Officer, via facsimile to (703) 632-1607, by 4:30 PM, EDT,8/11/2000. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code is 3484 (NAICS 421990), the Small Business size standard is 1,000 employees and this procurement is being conducted as an unrestricted procurement. FOB DestinationBQuantico, Virginia, Houston, Texas, and, Chicago, Illinois. Delivery date of base quantities shall be 45 days after award of contract. Delivery of any option quantities shall be 45 days after-receipt-of-delivery order.
