The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Acquisition and Materiel Management, Subsistence Prime Vendor Program is releasing a Request for Comments (RFC) to solicit review and comments from the foodservice industry for our planned national prime vendor contract. The contract will responsible for the purchase and distribution of subsistence commodities and ancillary supplies for all 140 VA Healthcare facilities and Other Government Agencies (OGAs). The awarded contract is estimated to be $93M per year and will be for a one year contract with four option years. VA is looking for creative, innovative contracting strategies for this and future subsistence solicitations. A pre-proposal conference for all potential vendors will be held August 22, 2000, 10am-1pm, at the VA National Acquisition Center (NAC), Hines, IL. to discuss the RFC and your suggestion to improve it. This conference will be an open discussion format; reviewing the particulars of the draft contract, answering questions, and discussing new or alternate suggestions for contract terms and/or performance work statements. Pre-registration for this conference is required. Subsequent to the all vendor conference, individual vendor conferences can be scheduled with VA if desired. Hines is not a town, but a federal reservation (Post Office) so you may not find it on a map but it is adjacent to Maywood and Brookfield, Illinois. The complex is located approximately 11 miles west of the Chicago Loop. The most direct route to the NAC is via the Eisenhower Expressway (Route 290) to 1st Avenue (South). Go south on 1st Avenue approximately 6-1/2 blocks (three stoplights) and turn right at the gate. From O'Hare Airport, take Route 294 south to the Eisenhower Expressway (Chicago) to First Avenue (South). Parking is on the left behind the fence (make three left turns to enter lot).
