The work consists of maintenance and new work dredging portions of the U.S. Coast Guard Integrated Support Base to depths of 21 feet and 22 feet, with one foot allowable overdepth at each respective depth. The contractor, at his option, shall perform the work with a hydraulic dredge and discharge the dredged material into the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Diked Placement Area by pipeline, perform the work with a bucket/clamshell dredge and deposit the dredged material by bottom-dumping scows within the Rehandling Basin at the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area, or perform the work with a combination of the two dredging methods. Including allowable overdepth, the contract Base Bid dredging consists of approximately 277,400 cubic yards of material and an Optional Bid Item consists of approximately 47,600 cubic yards of material.
