The Department of Veterans Affairs, John D. Dingell Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan is searching for an Architect/Engineer (A/E) firm to prepare preliminary drawings, construction drawings, bid package documents and construction period services for a Three Phase construction project to Expand Emergency Power and Lighting at this medical center. Phase I Increase lighting on the top level of the parking decks to provide sufficient illumination for the safety of patients and employees. Construction of Phase I is estimated to be between $25,000 and $100,000. Estimated design time is 60 calendar days. Phase II Expansion of emergency power to include air handlers in MICU, SICU, isolation rooms, A?C units in IRMS, condensate pumps, one x-ray machine, research freezers, bio-safety hoods, and additional red emergency power receptacles. Construction of Phase II is estimated to be between $250,000 and $500,000. Estimated design time is 120 calendar days. Phase III Installation of lighting in ETVS shaft. Construction is estimated to be between $25,000 and $100,000. Estimated design time is 60 calendar days. The A/E should have Licensed Professional Engineers specializing in electrical work in addition to expert construction cost estimators. The A/E should have experience dealing with interstitial building spaces in modern construction. Designs should be done concurrently.
