The following information is provided to assist the Air Force in conducting a Market Research of Industry to determine potential contractors who have the skills, experience and knowledge required to successfully complete this effort. Hill AFB Utah. This is not a Request for Proposal or Invitation for Bid. The F-16 Support Division, Mechanical/Structural Section has a requirement for the manufacture and delivery of the Low Noise Assembly (LNA). The LNA is a Shop Replaceable Unit (SRU) in the Modular Low Power Radio Frequency (MLPRF) Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) of the F-16 AN/APG-68 radar system. The LNA conditions the X-band radar echoes from the antenna and mixes them down to an L-band frequency for further processing. The LNA, NSN 1270-01-132-6867WF, includes the following subassemblies: Receiver protector, Low noise FET amplifier, First IF mixer, and First IF amplifier stage. The Air Force would like to replace this Low Noise Assembly with a new design, under the Falcon Flex Program (Form, Fit and Function Interface Requirement). We are seeking contractors who are interested in designing and manufacturing high reliability LNA's using modern technology rather than traditional build to print requirements. Interested parties would be required to design a new LNA and manufacture as many as 2,000 units to replace the existing units which are the cause of unacceptable support problems in the F-16 radar. A top level drawing set describing the LNA functions and current design is available. Interested parties are requested to submit two copies of a summary of the capabilities and facilities they have which will allow them to perform the development and manufacture of a new LNA. The Government does not intend to contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
