C -- BUILDING 1 FIRE SPRINLKER FEASIBILITY STUDY SOL 573-10-00 DUE 111299 POC Richard Powell, 352 374-6033, FAX 352 374-6117 Design services to furnish complete feasibility study for Project 573-00-109, "Building 1 Fire Sprinkler Feasibility Study", at the VA Medical Center, Gainesville, FL 32608. The project is for a feasibility study to determine the cost for project development for sprinkling the entire main hospital building. The A/E should have experience with health care facility renovation projects in general, and fire protection engineering in particular. The A/E firm selected for the design will be required to perform all necessary site survey work, such as verifying record drawings and analyzing utility systems and NFPA code requirements. The A/E firm selected will be required to retain a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to provide expertise in all aspects of assessing, abating, monitoring, and making recommendations concerning asbestos within the project scope of work. Firms should have the capability of producing a detailed feasibility study and cost breakdown including a cost estimate for design development and asbestos abatement. Selection will be based upon recent specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work required, professional capacity to accomplish the work, professional qualifications of staff and consultants assigned to project, past performance on contracts with Government agencies and private industry, in terms of cost control, quality of work, and other appropriate evaluation criteria. Consideration is limited to emerging small business concerns located within a 150 mile radius of Gainesville, FL. A emerging small business concern for purposes of this solicitation is defined as a firm whose average annual receipts over the past three years does not exceed $2 million.
