19 -- DESIGN, CONSTRUCT, TEST AND DELIVER AN INLAND RIVER STYLE SPECIALTY BARGE SOL DACW61-00-B-0003 DUE 120199 POC Michelle Bertoline, Contract Specialist, 215-656-6914 The vessel to be acquired is an inland river style specialty barge intended to serve the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District (CELRL) in support of its mission. The approximate dimensions of the vessel are 72 feet in length, 36 feet in beam, 6 feet depth as side. The walls, miter gates and floating approach walls at the Olmsted Lock & Dam. The vessel shall be suitable for year-round operation in both shallow, and ice and drift-strewn rivers of the Ohio River. The vessel will be designed, built and classed to American Bureau of Shipping rules for Steel Vessels on Rivers and Intracoastal Waterways. The solicitation will be formatted as "Design and Build" typed based upon a Concept Design prepared by the Marine Design Center, Philadelphia District. This contract will utilize the Marine Design Center's three phase contracting methodology. Liquidated Damages are included in the contract and bonding is required. One copy of the plans and specifications will be furnished on CD-ROM to each bidder at no charge. Additional copies will be furnished at a cost of $5.00 each.
