The Volpe Center plans to procure though Simplified Acquisition procedures, a sole source from Impact Design, Inc., Winchester, MA, to develop analytical design expressions and experimental testing for evaluating crush behavior of non-compact rail car structures. The contractor must formulate a new set of analytical design expressions to cover the range of sizes of components encountered in both passenger cab cars and locomotive structures. Small business firms classified under SIC Code 8731 that are interested in proposing on this requirement must demonstrate in writing that they had prior involvement in the development of the modified and refined analytical expressions for evaluating the crush behavior of rail car structures with very non-compact dimensions.
