JOAN.BERMAN@ssa.gov. The Social Security Administration (SSA), intends
to negotiate with the National Academy of Social Insurance on a sole
-source basis for providing SSA with a Microsoft Excel data base file
containing State-level estimates of workers' compensation costs paid
for all 50 States and the District of Columbia for 1996 along with a
written description of the estimate techniques employed, including any
idiosyncrasies in the data, and an assessment of trends in workers'
compensation. NASI will also provide its best estimates of the number
of workers receiving workers' compensation in each of the 50 States and
the District of Columbia. The data base will contain comprehensive
estimates of workers' compensation costs for each State by the type of
insurer, including private insurance carriers, State funds, federal
programs, and self-insurers. The file will also contain estimates of
the number of workers covered by workers' compensation, the size of the
covered payroll, the cost per employee covered and the costs per $100
of covered payroll and the best available estimates of the number of
workers receiving workers' compensations benefits in each State and the
District of Columbia. Interested parties must respond to this notice
within 10 calendar days from the date of this publication. When
responding to this solicitation, respondents should refer to
SSA-RFQ-99-3983. Interested persons may identify their interest and
capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This
notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However,
all quotations received within 15 days after date of publication of
this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by
the Government not to complete with this proposed contract based upon
responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the
Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for
the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive
