The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a contractor to provide centralized cataloging services for the 170 Department of Vetrans Affairs Network (VALNET) libraries. The Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) will be used as the bibliographic utility to provide copy, modified, and original cataloging for monographs, serials and audiovisuals. Nationally accepted standards and current cataloging practices will be used as directed in the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd ed., 1998 Rev. and the Library of Congress Rules Interpretations. The principal products include catalog cards and a computer record for individual VA libraries. Other products that can be produced from the VA cataloging records are union lists of books, journals and audiovisuals. The union lists enable VALNET libraries to locate library materials for resource sharing. The contract period will be for one year with four-optional years. The solicitation will be issued on or about July 30, 1999. This proposed requirement is 100%Small Business Set-Aside. SIC is 7375, $18 million.
